Overview:
Secret City is building a new digital home for our immersive stories. We are seeking a Full-Stack Developer specialized in React Native and Firebase to lead the development of our subscription-based game platform. This platform serves as the engine for our digital puzzles and large-scale immersive experiences. We are looking for a developer who treats code as a craft—someone who obsesses over the details, loves fluid transitions, and utilizes modern tools (including AI) to build high-quality digital experiences efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Mobile Development: Own the frontend development using React Native and Expo, ensuring a high-performance, polished UI/UX.
Backend & Logic: Architect and manage a scalable Firebase environment (Firestore, Auth, Cloud Functions) to handle user progress, puzzle logic, and real-time interactions.
AI-Accelerated Workflow: Utilize Python scripts and AI/LLMs to automate file generation, content pipelines, and repetitive tasks to accelerate development cycles.
Craft & Animation: Implement the "details"—the animations, micro-interactions, and transitions that make digital puzzles feel tactile and magical.
Subscription & Commerce: Build and maintain the membership infrastructure, including e-commerce checkouts and subscription management systems.
Requirements:
The Core Stack: Professional experience with React Native, Expo, and Firebase.
Scripting & AI: Proficiency in Python for automation. You should be someone who integrates AI into your workflow to generate assets, files, or code structures.
Full-Stack Mindset: You are comfortable jumping from a complex frontend animation to backend security rules and database architecture.
Commerce Experience: Previous experience with subscription models, e-commerce checkouts, or membership-based products.
Location: Must be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for regular hybrid/in-person collaboration.
Bonus points for:
Geospatial Tech: Experience with GPS-based triggers, Bluetooth (BLE) integrations, or Mapbox.
Hardware Tinkering: Familiarity with micro-controllers (e.g., Arduino, ESP32) for physical-to-digital interactions.
Interactive Design: A background in game design or a passion for puzzle mechanics and immersive storytelling.
